leading lady Deepika Padukone was on the list of presenters at BAFTA 24 held on February 18 at London’s Royal Festival Hall. The actress adorned the red carpet wearing a shimmery silver Sabyasachi sari and had one of the best looks of the night.

The actor presented this major award among other celebrities including Dua Lipa, Andrew Scott, Cate Blanchett, and Idris Elba. Before announcing the nominees, Deepika emphasized the films which made it into the nomination and how it “depicts real and imaginary worlds that stayed with us long after the credits roll”.

The category brings forward different creators from around the world and that’s what cinema does. It brings people together. It unites us all.

The Zone of Interest, “An Unblinking Masterpiece.”- BBC

The 77th BAFTA for Best Foreign Film was awarded to Jonathan Glazer for his film ‘The Zone of Interest’. The drama set in Auschwitz is distributed by A24 who are the same team behind academy-winning films Everything Everywhere All at Once (2023), Moonlight (2016), and popular HBO series Euphoria.

The playlist is called the historical drama “A Brilliant Examination of Human Complicity” and is based on the 2014 novel written by Martin Amis. The Zone of Interest is the first drama ever to win Outstanding British Film and Best Film Not in the English Language which was a historic moment for the makers. Other nominees for the category Best Foreign Film were Past Lives, 20 Days in Mariupol, Anatomy of a Fall, and Societies of the Snow.

Major wins from BAFTA 2024:

The event was a monumental moment for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer which won in 7 categories including best actor and best director. There was one other film that shared its place with Oppenheimer to dominate the award night which was Yorgos Lanthimos’s Poor Things (2023) which won in 5 categories some of which were for technical areas like Best Costume Design, Makeup, and Hair, Best Production Design and for best visual effects.

The comedy Drama also dominated in one of the leading categories, best actress which was won by The La La Land actress Emma Stone.
In 2023 Deepika Padukone presented an award at the Oscars which made her one of the three Indian actors to do so and now the Padmaavat star has made her presence yet at another global event that celebrates art and cinema.

The actress was last seen fighting alongside Hritik Roshan and will be next seen in Nag Ashwin’s upcoming mythological Kalki 2898 AD with Prabhas, Kamal Hassan, and Amitabh Bachchan which is believed to be the biggest Indian sci-fi project ever.
