Lizzo, a 4-time Grammy-winning icon called it quits on Friday in an Instagram post after receiving continuous backlash for her appearance and the controversies that happened last year. In an Instagram post, the star stated that she was quitting but didn’t specifically mention whether she was leaving social media or the music industry.

‘About Damn Time’ singer stated in her post that she is tired of all the allegations that people are making on the internet against her who don’t even know her. She further added by saying, “All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it,”
The singer has faced loads of criticism in the last year about her looks and her character which is being ripped apart on the internet and is tired of “being the butt of the joke”, the post also said that people are doing all of this just for “clout & views”.
“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout &views … being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look … my character being picked apart by people who don’t even know and disrespecting my name.”
Allegations Made Against Lizzo
Back in 2023, the world-renowned pop star was accused by three backup dancers who used to be in her team of “fat shamming and creating a hostile work environment”. Former dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez were the ones who came forward and sued Lizzo for sexual harassment, the legal action also included “sexual, religious and racial harassment, assault”
The post was made right after the attorneys of the backup dancers who charged Lizzo for sexual harassment last year, condemned the 35-year-old singer for performing at the re-election fundraiser for President Biden. Ron Zambrano reportedly said it is just “Shameful” that the singer has been asked to perform at such an honorable event “amid such egregious allegation”

Mellissa Viviane Jefferson aka Lizzo rose to prominence in 2019 after her album Cuz I Love You‘ was listed in the US Billboard 200. later on her single ‘Truth Hurts’ topped the charts 2 years after its release and became the “longest solo song by a female rapper”. The singer has won 4 Grammys and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Competition program and in addition to this Lizzo has been a recipient of the Billboard Music Award, BET award, and two Soul Train Music Awards.
After the post went viral, many stars came to show their support to Lizzo including Paris Hilton who commented, “We Love you Queen”, American rapper and actress Queen Latifa, Singer, and rapper Toddrick Hall shared, “I know it’s hard but you inspire so many people! The art you make changes and saves lives. Sending you so much love.”
