FilmScopes Rating: Jujutsu Kaisen

For those who may not know the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen 0: A withdrawn high school kid named Yuta Okkotsu is plagued by both bullying and a perverse curse. Rika Orimoto, a childhood friend who sadly perished in a car accident, became a Special Grade curse tied to Yuta, making him prone to violent outbursts when he feels threatened.

Four students were trapped in a locker in a horrifying incident. Yuta, who is controlled by a formidable spirit akin to Ryoumen Sukuna, is about to be executed until Satoru Gojo intervenes. Despite the toll the curse has taken on his life, Yuta is determined to study all he can about curses in order to free Rika and resume his normal life.

Unbeknownst to him, a radical person wants to exterminate non-sorcerers in order to create chaos in the world and actively seeks out Yuta to achieve his goals.

The main focus of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is Yuta’s personal experience with sadness and how this anguish resulted in a curse that plagued his entire life and led to his solitary, reclusive lifestyle. Rika Orimoto, Yuta’s childhood sweetheart, perishes in an accident, but he later learns that she has evolved into a cursed spirit bonded to him that manifests as a voracious monster while keeping her intelligence and self-awareness.

Despite the fact that it is originally thought that Yuta is the one who is cursed, he subsequently learns that Rika was unintentionally turned into a curse by his own free will after dying in a fatal car accident in front of Yuta as a child. Freeing himself from his curse, and his anguish, and closing himself off to the outside world are all parts of Yuta’s path throughout the movie.

Yuta’s brief introduction helps novices understand the appeal of the series. He has a mysterious, symbiotic link with a dangerous cursed being, just like Yuji Itadori. As seen before the Jujutsu Kaisen movie was made, Yuta is a unique figure who has the ability to surpass even the series’ strong sorcerer, Gojo Satoru.

Did You Know This About Jujutsu Kaisen 0?

  • In contrast to the manga, Gojo reveals his face to the students without the blindfold; they had never seen him in his whole before, making him a stranger to them. Additionally, because the author thought he hadn’t added enough, new characters and situations intended for the manga were incorporated into the film.
  • It received 142,500 viewers in German theatres, breaking the previous record of 67,000 viewers held by Dragonball Super: Broly for anime evenings.
  • Jujutsu Kaisen 0 tells a complete story about Yuta Okkotsu (voiced in the Japanese version by Megumi Ogata) that takes place around a year before the events represented in the anime and manga.
  • Yuta Okkotsu served as the protagonist for the first half of Gege Akutami’s popular one-shot “Volume 0” before Yuji Itadori was introduced. As a result, Akutami and Shonen Jump signed a contract for the monthly comic “Jujutsu Kaisen,” which stars Yuji.
  • Gojo can judge the potential of his students because of the Six Eyes cursed technique, which allows him to sense the cursed energy of others around him. It’s noteworthy that Gojo, the most powerful jujutsu sorcerer, even admits Yuta’s tremendous cursed energy reserves as being greater than his own.

The Case Of Rika: Suffering With Success

During their elementary school years, Yuta’s childhood friend, first love, and fiancée, Rika, made a commitment to be with him forever, which they cemented with an early sign of love: an engagement ring.

Rika, who was tragically slain in a vehicle accident, evolves into a Special Grade curse similar to Sukuna. Although she has lost her humanity, her intense love for Yuta still shapes her cursed existence, making him avoid social situations.

Rika is a part of Yuta’s Cursed Technique, which enables him to unconditionally store and copy Cursed Energy with the use of his ring. He receives Cursed Energy from Rika through this link, allowing the Cursed Spirit to fully appear. He can maintain this link for only five minutes, solving some puzzles while creating others.

After a crucial confrontation with Suguru, the curse on Rika is lifted. She makes one final appearance in her former form to say goodbye.

Are Yuta’s Abilities Overpowered?

Due to his unique qualities, Yuta Okkotsu, who first appeared in Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 0, stands out as a character. He is one of the four acknowledged Special Grade Sorcerers in the Jujutsu community, possessing a great deal of Cursed Energy and being distantly related to Satoru Gojo.

The sole purpose of Rika, a separate Special Grade cursed spirit, is to safeguard Yuta. Despite still having a lot to learn, Yuta’s alliance with Rika may put him ahead of even Gojo.

Notably, Yuta has the ability to command Rika and imitate Toge Inumaki’s Cursed Speech, a talent that had only ever belonged to the Inumaki clan. He is particularly adept at imitating condemned practices.

The Reverse Curse Technique, a unique and complex jujutsu technique, enables Yuta to produce positive energy for creation and healing by combining the negative cursed energy from two sources.

Yuta’s incredible cursed energy store, perhaps brought on by his special ancestry, allows him to unleash devastating attacks without running out of energy. Gojo cannot match his ability to directly emit positive energy.

Yuta’s skill set appears limitless and he is able to use a variety of methods without apparent restrictions. So, in conclusion, YES. All of these feats and abilities make him possibly the most powerful sorcerer ever.
