Adam Warlock Comics Vs MCU

Comic Book Version

Gold colored man
Adam Warlock in Marvel Comics

Adam Warlock was created by writer-artist Jim Starlin and first appeared in “Marvel Premiere” #1 in 1972.

Adam Warlock is a genetically engineered being, created by a group of scientists known as the Enclave, to be the perfect human. He possesses superhuman strength, agility, durability, and the ability to manipulate cosmic energy. He also can fly and is capable of faster-than-light travel.

Throughout his comic book history, Adam Warlock has been involved in several storylines, including his battles against his evil counterpart, the Magus, and his involvement in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, where he played a pivotal role in defeating the villain Thanos.

Adam Warlock has been a member of several superhero teams in the Marvel Universe, including the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Infinity Watch. He is also known for his leadership role in the cosmic community of the Marvel Universe.

Overall, Adam Warlock is a powerful and enigmatic character in the Marvel Comics universe, with a long and complex history.

Marvel Cinematic Universe Version

A gold-colored man flying
Adam Warlock in the MCU

Adam Warlock was first teased in a post-credits scene of the film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where it was revealed that he was being created by the Sovereign, a race of genetically engineered beings designed by the High Evolutionary.

Adam Warlock has now debuted in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, even tho he has seemingly retained his powerset and power level in comparison to the comics, his personality is very different, in the comics he is a serious and sensible character but in the MCU he is more like a child as of now.

At first, he is shown to be loyal to the villain under the influence of the “High Priestess” who he considers his “Mother”, and attacks “Knowhere” (the HQ of the GOTG) and was able to hold off all the Guardians alone. After the Sovereign High Priestess blew up, and the GOTG saved his life, he realized the good in him and joined the GOTG for good.

Adam Warlock is overall a very well-written character but the majority of his potential and character is left to be explored so we hope to see a lot more of him in future projects.

High Evolutionary’s Psyche

A man with his face pulled back
The High Evolutionary

The High Evolutionary was created by writer-artist Jack Kirby and first appeared in “Thor” #134 in 1966.

The High Evolutionary is a brilliant geneticist and scientist who seeks to advance human evolution through genetic manipulation and experimentation. He was originally a human named Herbert Wyndham, but after conducting experiments on himself, he became a highly evolved being with superhuman strength, speed, agility, and other abilities.

Throughout his comic book history, the High Evolutionary has been involved in several storylines, including his creation of the New Men, a race of genetically engineered beings on Counter-Earth, and his involvement in the Evolutionary War, a storyline that involved several Marvel superheroes and villains.

The High Evolutionary has also played a role in the origin stories of several Marvel characters, including Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, as well as the character Adam Warlock, whom he created.

Overall, the High Evolutionary is a complex and morally ambiguous character in the Marvel Comics universe, with a long and storied history. He is often depicted as a tragic figure who is driven by a desire to create and advance life, even if it means going against the norms and laws of society.

Imperfect “Perfect Society”

Evolved animals in human forms and clothing
Counter-Earth Citizens

It is an interesting take on an alien’s potential perspective of life on Earth as the “High Evolutionary” who aims to create a perfect society models his world upon the Earth, even naming it “Counter-Earth”, but alas the society is not even close to perfect as it has ongoing crimes and ill-traits that Earthlings possess.

Once the High Evolutionary realizes this he obliterates the Counter-Earth. This shows us how erratic and uncaring the High Evolutionary is, and also how opinions are just subject to perspective hence we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.

Incomplete True Love

A man and a green woman on the floor together
Star-Lord and Gamora

Peter Quill is initially shown to be deeply affected due to him losing “Gamora” the love of his life. Throughout the movie, he constantly keeps trying to get her back but fails. Peter summarizes their equation to Uri as:

“Some dumb**s Earth dude, who met a girl, fell in love. That girl died. And then came back a total di*k”.

Towards the end, he finally sees the reason for letting her go but still truly loves her. There were signs of them finally showing a spark toward each other as well, so we might see them together again in the future.

Special Credits In Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

A raccoon pointing at a blackboard
Rocket Raccoon

The credits entirely were a major homage to the GOTG series and it was just perfect, summarizing the whole plot of all the 3 movies and various specials by putting up their most iconic moments.

Anyone who is a loyal Marvel fanatic would get goosebumps and cannot be a better fan service for devoted Marvel fans, we can rest assured after that everyone left the halls happy. Especially considering this is the last GOTG movie, it was a really genius element to add.

Post Credit 1 (Spoiler Alert)

The mid-credits scene is a treat for all Marvel fans but especially for those who loathe original MCU content. It introduces us to the new GOTG roster, which in our opinion is epic but a bit overpowered, to be honest, and considering this was the last GOTG movie and we are not sure how much and when will we be seeing them in action again, it was a well-deserved closure for the fate of the GOTG.

Here is the roster revelation:

  • Rocket Raccoon(Leader)
  • Groot
  • Kraglin Obfonteri
  • Adam Warlock
  • Cosmo the space dog

New GOTG

Here Is A Brief About The Comic Book Versions Of The New GOTG

A raccoon holding a giant gun
Rocket Raccoon in Marvel Comics

Rocket Raccoon was created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist Keith Giffen and first appeared in “Marvel Preview” #7 in 1976.

Rocket Raccoon is a sentient raccoon who is an expert marksman, tactician, and weapons specialist. He is also a skilled pilot and a master of technology. In the comics, Rocket is the last of his kind, having been genetically engineered and experimented on by a group of scientists known as the “Black Order”.

Rocket is perhaps best known for his role as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, a team of superheroes that have become increasingly popular in recent years thanks to the success of their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. In the MCU, Rocket is a CGI character voiced by Bradley Cooper.

Rocket’s personality is often portrayed as brash and impulsive, but he also has a sensitive side that is shown through his relationships with his friends and fellow Guardians. He has a particular bond with the tree-like creature Groot, who often acts as his protector and closest friend.

Overall, Rocket Raccoon is a beloved and iconic character in the Marvel Comics universe, and his popularity has only grown with his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Groot in Marvel Comics

Groot was created by writer Stan Lee, artist Jack Kirby, and scripter Dick Ayers, and first appeared in “Tales to Astonish” #13 in 1960.

Groot is a sentient tree-like creature who can regenerate his body and grow new limbs at will. He also has superhuman strength and durability. In the comics, Groot is from planet X and is often portrayed as a heroic figure who fights to protect his home and his fellow beings.

Groot is perhaps best known for his role as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, a team of superheroes that have become increasingly popular in recent years thanks to the success of their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. In the MCU, Groot is a CGI character voiced by Vin Diesel.

Groot’s personality is often portrayed as childlike and innocent, but he is also fiercely loyal to his friends and teammates. He is often seen alongside his close friend and fellow Guardian, Rocket Raccoon, with whom he has a special bond.

One of the unique aspects of Groot’s character is his limited vocabulary. In the comics, he can only say “I am Groot” due to his vocal cords being made up of dense woody material. However, despite his limited vocabulary, Groot’s actions and expressions convey a wide range of emotions, making him a beloved and iconic character in the Marvel Comics universe.

A man with a giant fin on his head
Kraglin Obfonteri in the MCU

Kraglin Obfonteri is a fictional character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) only. He is portrayed by actor Sean Gunn.

Kraglin is a member of the Ravagers, a group of space pirates led by Yondu Udonta. He is also the right-hand man and closest friend of Yondu and often serves as his loyal second-in-command. Kraglin is a skilled fighter and pilot and is often seen operating the controls of the Ravager ship, the Elector.

Kraglin first appeared in the MCU in the film Guardians of the Galaxy as a minor character. However, he played a more significant role in the film’s sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where he was shown struggling with his loyalty to Yondu and his sense of morality.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Kraglin is also shown learning to use Yondu’s whistle-controlled arrow, which becomes a key plot point later in the film. He also plays a significant role in the film’s climactic battle, where he helps the Guardians and Ravagers fight against the villainous Ego.

Overall, Kraglin Obfonteri is a relatively minor character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he has become a fan favorite thanks to Sean Gunn’s performance and his interactions with other characters, particularly Yondu and Rocket Raccoon.

Post Credit 2 (Spoiler Alert)

A man in space
Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

The end credits scene is a wholesome piece that shows Peter Quill adjusting to his homely life on Earth but with a major and spectacular revelation:

The Legendary Star-Lord will be back, is an interesting piece to be put as even tho it confirms we will see more of Star-Lord, it also maybe is a subtle hint to the fact the GOTG might not be involved in his future endeavors.
