The Symbol Of Hope
The new story of Clark Kent is finally in production after many speculations and casting issues. James Gunn, CEO of DC Studios announced that the filming of the new Superman has begun which marks a new beginning for the DC universe. On February 29, Gunn shared on his Instagram that the work schedule of Superman has begun and it couldn’t be more perfect as the coincidence is kind of uncanny. He added,
“Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday”
Earlier, the title of the movie was Superman: Legacy but the title is now finalized as “Superman”, the franchise hasn’t used this title card in more than 4 decades. The first live-action film Superman was released in 1978 starring Christopher Reeve. The film will be released on July 15, 2025, and is the first solo Superman film after Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.
James has always felt a clear connection with this character, he told the Hollywood Reporter in an interview that,
“I completely relate to Superman because he’s everything I am. He’s somebody who is an outsider who feels like an alien, but also the ultimate insider, because he’s f– Superman. And that’s kind of like what I feel like.”
The Guardians of the Galaxy director also revealed a group picture of the cast and also the first look at the new Superman suit. Gunn’s Instagram post of the zoomed-in image of the ‘S’ logo and bits of snow on it makes us wonder whether it’s just regular snow or the snow from ‘The Fortress of Solitude’ or the so-called ‘Secret Citadel’ of Earth-2.
Casting For The New Superman
The cast for the new upcoming adventure is a strong pack including David Corenswet who will be playing the beacon of Hope Clark Kent aka Superman, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star and Emmy winner Rachel Brosnahan as Louis Lane, Nicholas Hoult as the egomaniac billionaire businessman Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Nathan Fillon (Guy Gardner), Isabela Mercad (Hawkgirl) and more.
According to the latest reports of the Hollywood reporter, another member has been invited to the city of Metropolis, he is probably one of the only people who can ‘boss’ around Clark Kent and Louis Lane at the same time.
Well, it is the editor-in-chief of Dailey Planet, Perry White who will be played by Wendell Pierce who is more prominently known for his work in The Wire as Detective Bunk Moreland, Robert Zane in The Suits and James Greer in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.

Superman And It’s Legacy
The ‘Legacy’ of Superman is longer than we imagine, the character made its debut back in 1938 created by writer Jerry Siegal and artist Joe Shuster. Their creation has given the world one of the most iconic superheroes of all time, someone to believe in, someone to look up to. All of this led to the era of live-action versions, to give people a closer version and a more personal touch. The first live-action Superman was Kirk Alyn in 1948 after that only a few played the part in a movie, Christopher Reeve played it in four installments from 1978 to 1987, then came Brandon Routh’s Superman Returns in 2006.
But if we ask which one is the best live-action adaptation of a DC character so far? The answer has to be Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy. He chose Zack Snyder as his successor and he didn’t disappoint anyone as his Man of Steel (2014) starring Henry Cavill and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) are still a fan favorite. It’s been more than 10 years since Zack came and paved a brand-new path for the DC universe. His contribution will always be remembered and after one hell of a good journey, it is time for a new chapter for the franchise!
