Jonathan Majors, former Marvel actor who was charged with assault, and defamation by his previous partner will be sentenced to prison after the New York judge on Wednesday denied his plea to invalidate the ‘guilty’ charge made by the jury last year. The defendant proceeded to get this judgment “overturned” by pointing out and asking the court to set aside the “assault in the third degree” which the court disagreed upon by saying,

“… contrary to Defendant’s contentions, the court submitted the count of reckless assault as an alternate theory to the intentional assault count, and not as a lesser included offense …there was a reasonable view of the evidence to support that Defendant acted recklessly”

This was denied by Judge Michael Gaffey, Jonathan majors will be sentenced on April 8. After Jonathan Majors was found guilty of reckless assault in 3rd degree and a non-criminal charge of harassment during his trial last year the jury consisted of three men and three women.

Lawsuit Against Jonathan Majors for ‘Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress’

 

Creed III (2023) actor is charged with 4 charges including battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, malicious prosecution, and defamation. The lawsuit was filed by his then-girlfriend actor and dancer, Grace Jabbari who claimed that the actor physically attacked her which caused her “serious injuries”

Priya Chaudry who is representing Jonathan Majors told CNN quote, “He continues to draw strength from his friends, fans, family, and dogs, harnessing his art and creativity. As he eagerly anticipates closing this chapter, he looks forward to redirecting his time and energy fully toward his family and his art,”

 

 

With the possibility of going to prison for a year, the trial and all the allegations have taken a toll on Jonathan and his career as the actor who was set to play the next antagonist ‘Kang the Conqueror’ after Thanos in the expanded Marvel Cinematic Universe was fired.

Majors have been subjected to these allegations various times but a few weeks after his conviction in January the actor told ABC News that he has never struck a woman.
