Kung Fu Panda 4

The studio behind the greatest animated adventure DreamWorks Animation owned by Universal Pictures is coming back with another sequel to the fan-favourite story of our Dragon Warrior, Po.

Kung Fu Panda 4 directed by Mike Mitchell is all set to hit the theatres on March 8 with a new arc of Kung Fu. The trailer for the movie was released back in December which introduced us to the incredible cast.

Jack Black is back to voice the big soft panda, along with him there will be some new characters like Zhen voiced by Awkwafina, Chameleon by Viola Davis, and many more.

Po, the dragon warrior is finally ready to start the next chapter of his life. At the beginning of the trailer, Shifu tells him that he is no longer the dragon warrior. Po was always destined to become something more. He is up for the empty position of the spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace.

He goes on a journey to look for the new dragon warrior and comes across Zhen, a quick-witted fox who offers to help him take down the dangerous and powerful master of shape-shifting ‘The Chameleon’. She unleashes all the supervillains from Po’s past whom he has defeated including Tai Lung.

The Unexpected Return Of The Forgotten Warrior

Tai Lung in Chorh Gom Prison

In Kung Fu Panda (2008) Tai Lung was a prisoner in Chorh-Gom Prison who was exiled because of his greed for the dragon scroll. Oogway saw the darkness in him and didn’t choose him as the next kung-fu warrior. This angered him as all Shifu ever taught him was to become strong enough to earn the right to wield the scroll which holds the secret of unending power.

Po defeats Tai Lung by sending him to the spirit realm using the legendary Wuxi finger-hold technique which he learned by himself. With Tai Lung’s defeat, Po saves the village and becomes the savior.

After 16 years, fan will get to witness the rogue warrior, Tai Lung voiced by the John Wick actor Ian McShane. Does this mean we will get to witness a rematch between Po and him?

Not exactly, as seen in the trailer The Chameleon. The shapeshifter is the one who turns herself into Tai Lung. Not in the manner we imagined, but yes there will be a rematch that we thought we never needed.

Why Was The Movie Delayed By 7 Years?

The fourth instalment took more than 7 years to develop, the last part was released in 2016 which ended with Po becoming the successor of Oogway. He takes on his role at the jade palace where he lives with his family pandas and the villagers of the Valley of Peace. They practice and pass on the art of kung fu and Chi to the next generation.
After the end of Kung Fu Panda 3, fans were certain that there wouldn’t be a next part. But the studio proved them wrong with the announcement of Kung Fu Panda 4.

In an interview with Collider, when asked Mike Mitchell and Rebecca Huntley about the reason why was the movie delayed by 7 years they replied by saying,

“Yeah, we took a long time. And in fact, that’s why it took so long to make it. We wanted to make sure that we had the best story moving forward, and that took a while. We didn’t just want to make another one. We knew it was gonna be funny and action-packed, but we needed to make sure that we had the proper story to tell that would allow our lead character to evolve and learn.”

The comedy action-packed movie is something that we will always have time for. It reminds us of our childhood. Another adventure of Po and his new friends with the music of Hans Zimmer. We will be reminded once again that Po is the chosen one. Our beloved dragon warrior who fell from the sky with fireworks.
