Dune actress
Rebecca Ferguson told Reign with the Josh Smith Podcast that she was once mistreated by one of her co-stars during the filming of a scene. On Tuesday’s episode of the podcast series with Josh, the actress shared the time when she felt disrespected when one of her co-stars, the name of whom she declined to reveal treated her poorly.
She then added that she stood up against the person, which was also one of the moments where was really proud of herself for being able to raise her voice against a celebrity who is among the A-listers. She continued by saying,
“I did a film with an absolute idiot of a co-star”. The Silo actress joked around and clarified that it is not Hugh Jackman or Tom Cruise. Ferguson rose to prominence after her role in The White Queen for which she also received a Golden Globe nomination. Other popular works of the actress are Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2015) and The Girl on the Train (2016).
“This human being was being so insecure and angry because [they] couldn’t get the scenes out. And I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I got screamed at and I would cry walking off set.” She went on to explain that the actor she was doing the scene with “was number 1 on the call sheet” Because of this she did not have anyone to have her back or just speak when they were in the wrong.
“This person would look at me in front of the whole crew and say, ‘You call yourself an actor? This is what I have to work with. What is this?” but the actress recalled how she went up to him the very next day and stood up for herself
“You get off my set.’ That’s the first time I [had] ever spoken — I remember being so scared. And I looked at this person and I said, ‘You can F off. I’m gonna work toward a tennis ball. I never want to see you again”
After this happened, she mentioned that the producers came to see her and advised that she couldn’t do this to number 1 as this person needed to come to the set. But Ferguson stood her ground as she told them with clarity that “The person can turn around” and she would act him to the back head which she did!
Ferguson On Finding Her Voice
The actress when asked about “what is it like finding your own voice?’’ answered that she is still figuring it out. Josh asked what it was like for her to find that voice which is a really meaningful question and she replied with simplicity. She said that she was raised by a very powerful mother. And because of whom she is comfortable in raising her voice on any given issue. “She would never hesitate to say what she thought of or felt, … that’s my mum and it was flamboyant, over the top, and exciting and I was always trying to work myself away from it. I’d like normality, don’t be crazy because I had that in her”.
But her genes are in her too which she considers, “wonderful” She added that she is still shy and is aware of her surroundings and stuff but she has no problem using her voice!
“I am not scared of the consequences of saying what I think”
