Rupert Sanders On The Legacy Of The Movie.
As the time has finally arrived to pass on the mantle, on Brandon’s 30th death anniversary. The new Crow is a tribute to the late actor, Rupert Sander shared in an interview with the Vanity Fair.
“Brandon was an original voice and I think he will always be synonymous with ‘The Crow’ and I hope he’s proud of what we’ve done and how we’ve brought the story back again. His soul is very much alive in this film.
There’s a real fragility and beauty to his version of the Crow, and I think Bill feels like he is a successor to that.” Sanders further explained how he was pulled towards the concept of the film, he shared, “What drew me to this was the opportunity to make a dark romance, something that dealt with loss, grief, and the ethereal veil between life and death and reaching through that”
The original character design from the comic consists of Eric with a punk rock hairdo and dark eye makeup but some fans are worried after seeing the first look of Rupert Sander’s Draven who is light on makeup if we are comparing it to the comic.
Rupert talks about how “Bill has a disturbing beauty”; he also shares that he drew inspiration from ‘Sunflower’ singer Post Malone and Lil Peep. Sander’s version is called a little bit modernized; fans hope it remains true to the original concept and honors the creator’s work.
