Anyone But You

has become the new talk of the town as the Euphoria actress has shared about the possibility of a sequel in the future for the movie. Anyone But You is a 2023 rom-com starring Sydney Sweeny and Glen Powell, which has broken many records over the past couple of weeks and one of them is crossing 200 million dollars with an estimated budget of 25 million dollars.

Most of us were preoccupied with other things because of this we didn’t expect a rom-com to top the charts. No one saw it coming in fact, there wasn’t the slightest idea that it would cross 200 million dollars with average reviews from the critics. But the audience seems to love the film. Just like Jimmy Fallon said they did bring back the Rom-com as the milestone that the movie created is “exceptionally rare”.

On the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Sydney was asked whether there will be a sequel for the movie or not to which she replied,

“Maybe, like a high nine chance.”

The audience went ballistic after hearing the news and fans couldn’t keep their excitement as they were looking forward to seeing their chemistry on screen one more time. The feel-to-good movie is about two ex-lovers Ben and Bea who pretend to be a couple to get their families off their backs when they meet each other again at their friend’s destination wedding in Australia.

But things get complicated as they realize that they falling for each other in real.

Glen Powell said in an interview that they are ready to do another movie together all they need is the right script which would bring their best performance and the most adorable chemistry people might see,

“When you find somebody that you really jive with, Sydney is so easy to work with and so fun. We’re trying to find the next thing, please send us all the scripts you got. You know we’re here for it.

It’s been wonderful to read a lot. Sydney reads everything, by the way, and in record time. She’s the fastest reader I think I’ve ever met. It takes me a little longer, but we’re reading everything and just trying to see what makes sense, what we can turn into something that audiences are going to respond to”

Should there be a sequel to Anyone But You?

Fans are all geared up to see the pair in another movie but they are concerned whether a sequel might take away the magic from the movie. According to them, making a different movie with the same idea and cast is a better plan than a sequel. They are asking them to take clues from Richard Gere and Julia Robert or Ryan Gosling and Emma Watson.

fans on X suggested that they should learn from past mistakes because usually, a sequel to a good romantic film never really works, even if the script is strong it will feel like they are repeating the same plot over and over. One user wrote on X,

“When actors have amazing chemistry in a romcom you aren’t supposed to make a sequel. you’re supposed to make a brand-new movie and cast those actors as leads again. and do that for about 5 different movies. This is the formula!”

Their reasoning is rational as these types of rom-coms are better left alone just like how movies like La La Land, No Reservations, Notebook, or Just Friends don’t require a second part. Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney’s chemistry can surely be used in a separate project just like how Ryan and Emma did in Crazy Stupid Love (2011), La La Land (2016), and Gangster Squad (2013).
